The short version - a simple, effective alarm system. I highly recommend considering it.

The longer version - This kit version doesn't come with a separate siren. The base station acts as a siren if you don't add one. I also purchased the doorbell, the door lock and water sensor as well as additional entry sensors. My large dog triggers the motion sensors. Support says you can mount them upside down and lower to try to avoid a false alarm but I haven't tried it yet. The door lock (ordered separately) was pretty obviously not new and it did not work properly. I contacted Simplisafe support and they couldn't get it to function either, so they sent out a new lock which worked perfectly. Adding additional sensors, etc. is a breeze with this system. This alarm system is capable of pretty much everything.

You can tell a lot about a company by their support team. In my experience, they were excellent. They were knowledgeable, friendly and non-rushed. They had the tools to help without having to pass me off to multiple people. Kudos.
